Travel from the central highlands of Windhoek to the Namib Desert and world renown Sossusvlei.  To the Atlantic Ocean and Namibia’s Skeleton Coast,  on to Etosha National Park for an excellent game viewing experience.  The water rich northern areas are quite unlike the rest of the country, travel through the BwaBwata National Park as you make your way to Botswana and Chobe National Park ending with the natural wonder of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Windhoek International airport - City

Route:      Windhoek Hosea Kutako International airport - City
Distance: 48 km

Journey:  You will be met in the arrivals hall of our International airport and transferred into the city of Windhoek.  Remainder of day at leisure.  Depending on your arrival time we suggest joining a short City & Katutura tour / Penduka - Craft market.

Day 2 - Windhoek to Sesriem

Route:      Windhoek to Sesriem
Distance:  310 km

Journey:  Your vehicle will be delivered to you after breakfast this morning.  Embark on the drive to Sossusvlei, home to the giant red dunes, some of the most spectacular in the world!   It is a wild, beautiful and romantic spot, with sparse vegetation edging a few water courses which flow in from the Tsauchab River, here Springbok, Oryx and Ostrich are often seen.  During late afternoon enjoy a sundowner overlooking the plains and Naukluft mountains.

Day 3 - Sesriem - Sossusvlei - Sesriem

Route:      Sesriem - Sossusvlei - Sesriem
Distance: 130 km

Journey:  Up at dawn so as you can make the most of the early morning hours in the Namib Naukluft Park as the sun rises over the dunes with the colours changing over the dunes, early morning or late afternoon are the best times for this.  Return to the lodge for lunch and visit Sesriem Canyon mid to late afternoon, explore the cool passageways of this Canyon on foot. The canyon is small but very picturesque - many plants grow in the shade and shelter it offers, and water pools attract several species of birds and animals.

Day 4 - Namib Naukluft to Swakopmund

Route:      Namib Naukluft to Swakopmund
Distance: 345 km

Journey:  Today you travel via the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons to the Atlantic Ocean and coastal town of Swakopmund.  Passing through the settlement of Solitaire  stop for photos at the Tropic of Capricorn sign.   At Walvis Bay spend time at the lagoon which is Paradise for bird lovers with roughly 50 species of seabirds, including vivid flocks of flamingos, bulky- billed pelicans and glossy black cormorants. Your arrival in Swakopmund will be after lunch with this afternoon to explore the town.

Day 5 - Swakopmund to Etosha National Park

Route:      Swakopmund to Etosha National Park
Distance: 512 km

Journey: Your journey today takes you inland to the sun baked town of Usakos.  Omaruru is a good place to stop with its good restaurants and souvenir shops.  Visit the Kristall Kellerei which is the only manufacturer of Namibian brandy and is one of four wine producers in the country (they also produce a variety of schnapps from prickly pears).  Travelling via the Erongo region through the town of Outjo to the world famous Etosha National Park.

Day 6 - Etosha National Park

Route:      Etosha National Park

You may choose to do your game drives in your touring vehicle, alternatively join one of the guided game drives for either the morning, afternoon or night drive with spotlight.  The best time for game viewing are the early morning and late afternoon hours, Okaukujeo Resort has the better of the floodlit waterholes in the National Park.

Day 7 - Okaukeujo to Mushara Lodge

Route:      Okaukuejo to Mushara Lodge

Journey:  After an early breakfast pack up and leave Okaukuejo travelling to the most central of the Resorts, Halali.  Stretch legs and have some lunch before heading off towards Namutoni, after exiting  the National Park it is a short drive to your lodge for overnight.

Day 8 - Mushara Lodge to Rundu

Route:      Mushara Lodge to Rundu
Distance: 410 km

Journey:  Early morning start as there are a few sights you may wish to take in today such as Lake Otjikoto, the museum in Tsumeb and the Hoba Meteorite.  The journey takes you into the Kavango region which is dominated by the Kavango River which forms a natural border between Namibia and Angola.  Due to the river this area of the country is considerably greener than the rest of Namibia, rich in fauna and flora this is the only perennial river in Africa that flows eastwards without reaching the ocean. After a journey of more than a thousand kilometers, it drains itself in the endless sands of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

Alternatively you can also travel via Tsinsabis, where you will come across a few of the settlements of the San People.

Day 9 - Rundu to Divundu

Route:      Rundu to Divundu
Distance: 225 km

Journey:  After a leisurely breakfast your short drive brings you to Divundu, a village on the south-eastern banks of the Okavango in the Kavango East Region where the River cuts through Namibia meandering into Botswana.  This area is the homestead of the local Mbukushu kings.

Day 10 - Divundu

Route:      Divundu

Journey: Optional game drives into Mahango National Park, guided drives across the river into BwaBwata National Park, boat cruises and village visits.

Day 11 - Divundu to Camp Kwando

Route:      Divundu to Camp Kwando
Distance: 252 km

Journey:  There is sufficient time for a morning activity before heading off into the Zambezi Region (Caprivi strip) and the BwaBwata National Park which was created by merging Caprivi Game Park and Mahango Game Reserve.  This Park is bounded by the Okavango River to the west and the Kwando River to the east. Angola lies to the north and Botswana to the south.  An important migration route from Botswana to Angola for African elephant and some other game species. It is an unusual as a Protected Area in that people live in the park, the Namibian Government involves park residents and neighbours in planning and managing the park.

Day 12 - Camp Kwando to Kasane (Botswana)

Route:      Camp Kwando to Kasane (Botswana)
Distance: 265 km

Journey:  Katima is the main town in this region and sits on the banks of the Zambezi River (which flows into Zimbabwe). South of Katima farewell to Namibia as you cross the border into Botswana and on to Kasane, a town in the northeastern corner of Botswana, near the borders with Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It's the gateway to Chobe National Park, known for the herds of elephants which converge on the Chobe River in the dry season.

Day 13 - Chobe National Park

Morning game drives are available into Chobe National Park with afternoon / evening boat cruise on the Chobe River.

Your rental vehicle will be collected today as  road transfer across the border has been arranged for tomorrow morning.

Day 14 - Kasane to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Route:      Kasane to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Distance: 85 km

Journey:  mid morning you will be collected from your the lodge and transferred across the border to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe).  This is the gateway to the massive waterfall of the same name  and is one of the seven wonders of the world.  The best time to catch the rainbows  is early to mid afternoon when the sun is in a perfect position over main falls.  The falls are situated in the Victoria Falls National Park (Zimbabwe) and are split between  Zimbabwe and Zambia (Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park).

Should you wish to add an additional night in Victoria Falls to this program please enquire as to pricing from us.  There are many additional activities to be done in the area, from adventure white water rafting, bungee jumping, gorge swings, sunset cruise, helicopter flights, village and national park visits, canoeing and much more.
