Mowani Mountain Camp

Mushara Lodge

Amid African bush, only 8 miles from the “Von Lindequist Gate” in the eastern spurs of the Etosha Park, Mushara Lodge is ideally situated for visiting the park. Great attention was also devoted to the design of the lodge. It is a perfect combination of traditional African and modern art. The ten straw-covered, spacious chalets are nestled in the form of a horseshoe around the pool. Each chalet is spacious and equipped with air conditioning, a mosquito net, a mini-bar, a tea and coffee maker, electric lights, a telephone, a safe, a wardrobe and luggage storage. The bathrooms provide a shower and separate toilet.

Frankfurt – Windhoek

Individual approach to your International Departure Airport. If you like, you can go ahead with your preferred Airline to Windhoek, Namibia (suggested night flight).

Windhoek

When you arrive, welcome your local, English-speaking guide. The tour guide will head the passengers during the entire journey and on the domestic flights.

08.30 am

Transfer from the airport to the Hotel Heinitzburg. The duration of the transfers is about 30 – 40 minutes. Early check-in is requested at the hotel.

We welcome you with canapés and drinks outside on the Heinitzburg Terrance.

The rest of the time remaining is at leisure.

City tour in Windhoek. Approx. 2 hour2-hour tour, where we look at the historical buildings of the city of Windhoek, such as the Luther Church of Christ, the “Alte Feste” ( Old Fort), the House of Parliament (the so-called “Ink Palace), the old railway station and the townships Khomasdal & Katutura

Windhoek – Keetmanshoop – Fish River Canyon

Pickup at the hotel and transfer to Eros Airport. (Approx. 15 min) Loading of luggage (soft luggage to max 10 kg per person) In a Cessna Grand Caravan 208, you fly southerly to Canyon Lodge. Refuelling in Keetmanshoop.  Flight time from Windhoek to Canyon Lodge is about 1 hour 55 minutes

Landing at the airstrip of Fishriver Canyon Lodge and transfer to the lodge. (Transfer approximately 10 to 15 minutes.)

Afternoon – Trip to Fish River Canyon.

This extraordinary natural spectacle, through erosion and earth’s crust movements emerged, serves fish in humid years as a habitat and is the second largest canyon in the world next to the Grand Canyon. Duration about 3 hours.

Fish River Canyon – Kolmanskuppe – Lüderitz – Sossusvlei

Arrive at the airfield and transport to the Kolmanskuppe ghost town, the former “capital” of diamond production. This old German settlement was reclaimed from the desert and “devastated” more and more each year. Duration of tour approximately 45 minutes (09:30 – 10:15)

10:30 am

Transfer to the little town of Lüderitz.

A brief tour of Lüderitz. You will discover this fascinating port city during a city tour. Lüderitz is known for its “Old World” charm, mainly reflected in the original trusses, winding stairways, verandas and the windows of the houses. The “Goerkehaus”, built in 1909, is an excellent example.

Today you start pretty early, before sunrise, on your trip to Sossusvlei. The Sossusvlei is a huge clay soil valley with over 300 m of apricot-coloured dunes surrounded. These are some of the highest dunes on earth. In rainy years, the Tsauchab River flows into the valley, and the water attracts numerous species. But even in the dry season, you can see many different wildlife and bird species.

Transfer to the nearby airstrip.

Flight to Walvis Bay above the Namib Desert (approx. 1 hour) 08:30 am. After arrival at the Walvis Bay airport, transfer to the harbour. The transfer takes about 15 minutes.

Start a boat ride with champagne, fresh oysters, and snacks on board. Dolphins, seals and sea birds can be observed close up.

Transfer from Walfish Bay to Swakopmund and check in at the hotel (35 km = approx. 30 min). Swakopmund is Namibia’s most popular coastal town, with its Art Nouveau-influenced Buildings, nestled between the Atlantic and the dunes of the Namib – although it is for most visitors with a water temperature of max. 22 º too cold for swimming. The former port is now closed up and forms a bay to the beach. Palm-lined avenues, parks, and the refreshingly cool summer climate make this city so attractive.

Afternoon and evening at leisure. Overnight/breakfast at The Delight Hotel.

Swakopmund – Mowani Mountain Camp Flight along the Skeleton Coast

Buffet breakfast at the hotel and check-out.

You will be picked up at the hotel and taken to your private plane. (Transfer approximately 15 min)Today you can expect a panoramic flight along the Skeleton Coast in the northern direction.

The departure time this morning depends on the weather situation. On some days, the fog along the coast remains until 10.00 am.

Landing on the Mowani Mountain Camps airstrip.

(Flight time from Swakopmund via Skeleton Coast to Mowani = 60min)

Transfer to the lodge and check-in and lunch

Afternoon trip to the “organ pipes”, a rock formation with up to 5 m high basalt pillars and a geological curiosity. Then visit the “burned mountain”, a hilly landscape; the twilight turns into a firework display of red and brown tones, as well as the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein.

Mowani Mountain Camp – Mushara Lodge Etosha National Park

The start of the first-afternoon game drives into Etosha National Park with open game drive vehicles.

Pure nature in all its facets – that is the Etosha National Park. The heart of the 1907 established park is the 5,000 square kilometres large salt pan in rainy periods filled with water and one of southern Africa’s most important flamingo breeding sites. This salt pan, up to 120 km long and 55 km wide, arose 2 to 10 million years ago when the Kunene flowed into Lake Ekuma, whose extension formed the Etosha Pan. Later the Kunene moved his bed west to the Ruacana Falls and cut the water supply to the lake.

At sunset return to the Lodge. Dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast at the lodge, today stands for activities in the bush.

At sunrise trip to Etosha for a game drive in open vehicles. (Approx. 3.5 – 4 hours)

At sunset return to the Lodge. (Approx. 2 – 2.5 hours) Dinner at the lodge.

Transfer to your plane.

The flight goes south to Otjiwarongo.
