Kashana is based in a historic building constructed in 1907 as a casino for local mine-workers. It is thought that the house probably gained its name from the surrounding bush savannah which resembled a wide open plain or ‘Kashana’ in the Owambo language. The years took their toll on the building and after painstaking restoration to its former glory it once again reflects its German colonial heritage and was re-opened in 2007.  Today, the building is the centerpiece of a Lodge-style Guesthouse with a novel and attractive bar and a popular all-day à la carte restaurant, frequented not only by residents, but also by passing travellers and local townspeople, all enjoying the tranquil shade of the garden courtyard.

Located on Walvis Bay’s beautiful Lagoon, Oyster Box Guesthouse offers 12 rooms of classic comfort for holiday tourists, business people, families, and water sports enthusiasts. Meike’s Guesthouse opened its doors in 2001 with 4 double rooms. Since then, the establishment has expanded and now offers a total of 22 beds. Through our over 25 years of experience in hospitality, we have a deep understanding of what travellers are looking for. Our rooms are not only spacious and stylish, but also equipped with anything a holidaymaker could need. We have five individually styled, homey double rooms (twin bedded) and two spacious family units (two separate bedrooms, one shared bathroom). In addition to this, we also have one large, fully-equipped 2-bedroom self-catering apartment on offer.

The contrast between the rustic cement, off-white linen, old silver and luxurious touches, is enchanting. One of Olive Grove’s main features is the large veranda in front of the rooms. The inside lounge is tastefully decorated, with comfortable chairs and a fireplace. The open-plan kitchen allows the guests to enjoy a glass of wine in the lounge while the chefs prepare dinner. Alternatively, for those who prefer some privacy, meals can be enjoyed in their rooms or on the patio.

A guest computer is available, for people to check their emails and stay in touch with family and friends back home and because staying in touch is so important we ensured free wifi is available throughout the property & in the privacy your room. The garden is rounded off with a designer plunge pool, comfortable chairs to enjoy the tranquillity and a small sun lounge.
