Divundu is filled with the rich culture of the Kavango people – women draped with colourful cloth, Nguni cattle crossing the road every few meters. Children playing in the river and men on the wato’s catching dinner with nothing but an earthworm on a hand line. Game parks filled with wildlife, the Kavango East has become a destination in its own, a place where you can spend at least a few days.

Camp Aussicht is a unique Rest camp in the Kaokoveld situated south of Opuwo. The camp is located with an extraordinary
view of the valley below and in a beautiful quiet and isolated position on the top of a hill. There are 6 campsites, each with 1-2 bucket showers, 1-2 pit latrine, running water and a fireplace. No power. There are also 4 twin rooms with running water and energy. Bucket showers and pit latrines are outside to be shared.
Damaraland Accommodation
Khorixas Rest Camp offers value-for-money Khorixas accommodation in the heart of Damaraland. It is a great stopover when visiting Etosha National Park. The ancient rock art galleries of Damaraland is a popular attraction. Therefore, you can arrange day trips to see the rock engravings nearby. The region is also famous for the migrating of the desert-adapted elephants and vast landscapes. Khorixas Rest Camp offers accommodation in 26 Chalets, 2 family Chalets, 10 Single Rooms and 14 Campsites . A pool and a curio kiosk are also available.
Damaraland Camp is situated in the Huab River Valley in one of the best wilderness areas in Namibia, offering endless vistas across stark plains, ancient valleys and a stunning ochre-purple mountain backdrop. Activities include nature drives and walks while further afield, ancient rock art and geological wonders dot the area. Ten large adobe-style thatched units (including a family unit) are raised off the ground, each with a walk-in dressing area and a large deck on which to sit and contemplate the desert. The spacious public living area comprises a dining area and swimming pool. An open campfire and outdoor boma are enjoyed during calm evenings and stargazing is superb, thanks to the crystal-clear night skies.
Madisa Camp is situated in Namibia’s scenic Damaraland, on the very popular road to the Twyfelfontein World Heritage Site. The Camp is hidden between amazing rock formations scattered with Bushman Paintings, and the majestic Desert Elephant periodically pass through the area. The swimming pool welcomes you after a long hot day on the road and gives you the much-needed chance to rejuvenate and explore your surroundings. Accommodation is provided in 7 Twin Bedded Safari tents, each with open-air bathrooms built into natural rock formations. The Camp also has 9 Private camp sites as well as 5 Overland camp sites. Each spacious campsite is shaded by large Mopane Trees with exquisite views of the Gauntegab River and the rock formations. The campsites have individual open-air private ablution facilities, situated on stilts and hidden amongst the tree tops.
Doro Nawas rests on the edge of the dry Aba-Huab River overlooking ancient plains with glorious views of the rugged Damaraland area. The camp provides an excellent base for exploring in game drive vehicles and on foot, as well as excursions to view fascinating geological phenomena, petroglyphs (prehistoric rock engravings) and San rock art at Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first World Heritage Site. The 16 chalets are crafted in wood, canvas and thatch (including a family unit) to blend in with the surrounding scenery. Each unit comprises a bedroom, bathroom, outdoor shower, and veranda for star gazing or sleep outs under the stars. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, a pool area and a small curio shop.

Desert Rhino Camp offers an original and exclusive wilderness experience and the possibility of seeing some of the largest free-ranging population of desert-adapted black rhino in Africa. The camp set in a wide valley sometimes flush with grass, has eight large meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms. A tented dining and living area and plunge pool offers uninterrupted views of the desert and mountains, while extraordinary Welwitschia plants dot the plain in front of camp. Other species seen in the area include Hartmann’s mountain zebra, giraffe and lion. Huab Lodge is an award-winning premier lodge with 8 luxurious bungalows and an extraordinary atmosphere. Perfectly situated in Damaraland, right on route to and from Etosha. Here you can “Enjoy the Huab Sound of Silence”. Huab Lodge with all it has to offer and being off the beaten track is not a place for a single night-stop. The Skeleton Coast Park is managed as a wilderness area. Terrace Bay has beach chalets and standard rooms, a restaurant, recreation room, shop, filling station and a landing strip for light aircraft. Mile 108, 72 & Jakkalsputs and Torra Bay (which opens from 01/12 to 31/01) provide camping and caravan sites with communal ablution blocks.
Between Kaokoland and the Skeleton Coast, where the flat-topped Etendeka mountains and the carpet of rich red rock greet the tributaries of the Uniab River, lies Palmwag Lodge and Camp.
