The name Koiimasis is derived from the former living San (bushmen) and means: “Place, where people meet.”

At Shametu River Lodge you will be experiencing the tranquillity of the Kavango River on your doorstep. When driving to the Caprivi, most travellers assume that Divundu, Kavango East, is only a place for a quick stop-over on their way to game parks and fishing tales but what they do not realise is that they are driving thru one of Namibia’s most precious hidden gems. Divundu is filled with the rich culture of the Kavango people – women draped with colourful cloth, Nguni cattle crossing the road every few meters. Children playing in the river and men on the wato’s catching dinner with nothing but an earthworm on a hand line. Game parks filled with wildlife, the Kavango East has become a destination in its own, a place where you can spend at least a few days.

Visit one of the eldest farms in southern Namibia and enjoy the real farm(ers) experience just on the foot of the Naukluft mountains. Just east of Aus, Klein Aus Vista lodge is nestled in the granite-gneiss hills with magnificent views of the landscape. Hidden among large grey granite boulders and mopane trees, Hoada Campsite has the trimmings of a serene home in the wilderness. A well-maintained gravel road, requiring a high clearance vehicle, leads to the camp, located approximately 75 km west of Kamanjab. Pitch your tent in one of the spacious campsites or book one of our 4 permanent tented units. Each site has ample space for roof tents and is equipped with a kitchen area and BBQ facilities, a flush toilet and an open-air shower with warm water. On hot afternoons, take a dip in the pool nestled between the rocks and enjoy a drink on the wooden decks around it.

Khowarib Lodge nestles on the banks of the Hoanib River in the magnificent Khowarib Gorge in north-west Namibia. The 14 canvas en-suite Chalets are a short walk from the lodge to the river bank and comprise either twin or double bed sleeping arrangements. Viewing platforms extend from the front of each tent shaded by the plentiful Mopani trees but affording splendid views of the gorge. The bathrooms are spacious and well equipped and add to the feeling of indulgence and relaxation that Khowarib Lodge offers.

Luxurious Lodge with two suites and 14 rooms with various views depending on type of view-room booked, nestled amongst the boulders throughout the mountain. The lodge is located close to the UNESCO heritage site of Twyfelfontein and where the desert adapted elephants roam.  The Twyfelfontein conservancy has been protecting the southern most roaming ground of the black rhino and elusive desert elephant. Sustainable eco-tourism and community upliftment is of the utmost importance at Mowani. Guides from the local tribes compliment day-time game drives to track mountain zebra, kudu, springbok, klipspringer and if you are fortunate enough… the leopard! The adventurer in me took over at Mowani. Days were filled with game drives, hot air balloon trips over the Aba-Huab Valley, champagne breakfasts and al fresco meals amidst the dusky landscape beneath Mopani trees.
